Will the club teach me how to climb or navigate?
There is a broad range of experience within the club, however we are not a professional organisation, and are not qualified to teach beginners from scratch.

For further guidance on learning to rock climb or navigate in a mountain environment try the following organisations 

• The National Mountain Centre offer world class courses in all aspects of mountaineering.  Contact them at :

• Another source of information is the British Mountaineering Council, 177–179 Burton Road, Manchester. M20 2BB. who also have a comprehensive web site. 

What happens once I’m a member ?
It’s up to you.  Like anything else in life you will get out what you put in.  The club is run by and exists for it’s members.   Try to mix as best as you can and find out who else in the club does the kinds of things that you want to do. You will find it much easier to integrate into the club if you are able to attend the organised weekend meets rather than relying on getting to know people with just two hours down the pub on a Wednesday night.
