Costs :

What does it cost to join or use the Hut?
We have an annual membership subscription, this includes a subscription to the British Mountaineering Council, who we are affiliated to.  This gives you BMC liability insurance and the BMC magazine 'Summit'.  The annual subscription is approximately £25 and is collected in January, although you can, of course, join at any time in the year.  To use the Club Hut in Snowdonia, you can either go along as a guest (see Can I Use the Hut Before I Join?), this will cost you £5.00 per night.  If you become a member, this is reduced to £4.00 per night.  Alternatively, members who use the Hut frequently can invest in a yearly 'season ticket'.  This means that for the annual charge of £40 you can stay at the hut as often as you want, without extra charge.

These charges are set at the AGM each December and are designed to cover the administrative costs of running the club and ensuring that the hut is kept in a good state of repair.  We are a non-profit making organisation so don't worry about fees suddenly going through the roof!  Any excess derived from renting the hut out to other interested parties is ploughed back into capital projects on the hut. We are also currently looking at pro-rata payments for people who join throughout the year and also at reduced fees for people on lower incomes - i.e. the unemployed or students.

What do I get for my money ?

  • The chance to meet local and experienced people who share the same passions and interests.
  • The opportunity to use a well equipped hut at one of the UK's premier climbing venues, in Snowdonia National Park.
  • BMC liability insurance giving you a limit of indemnity of £2m for any one claim.
  • 10% instant discount on hardware, clothing and accessories at most outdoor shops in Snowdonia.
  • Further massive discounts are available when members group together to buy at contract prices.

Are there any requirements I must meet to join ?
To join you must be at least 18 years of age and be prepared to sign a waiver confirming that you agree to be solely responsible for your own actions. We allow minors between the ages of 16–18 to join with parental consent.
